MILWAUKEE – As the final seconds melted off the clock and Nevada took the last breathes of its 2016-17 season, the camera broadcasting the Wolf Pack’s first-round NCAA Tournament game against Iowa State to a national audience zoomed in on the face of senior D.J. Fenner. It was awash in tears.
The feelings pulsing through the team’s captain Thursday night were numerous.
He was nervous – because Nevada’s season was being pushed to the brink of extinction.
He was excited – because despite some big deficits the Wolf Pack kept making charges.
He was angry – because he was on the bench and seemingly couldn’t help his teammates.
