Nevada guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. couldn’t miss on Tuesday night.
Well, technically, he missed. Not often, though. The result was one of the best individual performances seen at Lawlor Events Center since the heady days of the Martin brothers making defenses look silly in the late 2010s.
Cambridge finished with a career-high 36 points Tuesday night against Colorado State, hitting 13 of his 15 attempts — often under solid defensive pressure — including seven of nine 3-pointers. He added four rebounds (tied for the team high), two steals and two blocks.
One problem: Nevada lost. CSU withstood a late rally and held on for an 82-72 win at Lawlor, sending the Wolf Pack to its sixth straight loss.
