A sensational first six minutes and a fantastic final few minutes were enough for the Nevada football team to walk victoriously out of a renovated Mackay Stadium on Friday night.
The other 50-plus minutes? Those weren’t so good.
The Wolf Pack was in midseason form to start its game against FCS foe Cal Poly, scoring two touchdowns sandwiched around a forced turnover to take a 14-0 lead just 5:47 into the game. That lead swelled to 21-7 after one quarter. But by the end, Nevada was forced into overtime and narrowly avoided its first loss to an FCS opponent in 22 seasons.
