The Wolf Pack will be without one of its best defensive players when it faces rival UNLV on Saturday.
Senior defensive tackle Rykeem Yates was given a half-game suspension by the Mountain West for “targeting and initiating forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of the helmet” against Buffalo. Since Yates had previously been ejected from a game, against UNLV last season, and was in a probationary period, he was suspended an additional half, meaning he’ll miss the entire UNLV game.
On Saturday, Nevada was notified Yates’ hit was under review. On Sunday, it was notified the league would take action on the play.
