Utah State returned the opening kickoff 65 yards to the Wolf Pack 29 but couldn’t score after Rykeem Yates came up with a big tackle for loss on third-and-2 and Brock Warren went wide right on a 29-yard field-goal attempt. The Wolf Pack picked up two first downs on its opening drive before punting around midfield. Nevada got on the board first when linebacker Jordan Dobrich returned a tipped ball by Yates 25 yards for a touchdown to put the Wolf Pack up 7-0. Nevada got two third-down stops on Utah State’s next drive, but both times a penalty gave the Aggies a first down (one a facemask on Kendall Johnson and the other a roughing the passer on Dobrich).
