After coming up 1.68 seconds short of clinching the Governor's Series championship Saturday afternoon, the Nevada baseball team made sure that title went to the north for the first time just a few hours later.
Nevada beat UNLV, 4-1, at Peccole Park on Saturday night to clinch the season baseball series and ultimately swing the balance of the Governor's Series. The all-sport competition finished with both teams at 24 points. The Wolf Pack owned the all-important tie-breaker, which goes to the winner of the football game, which Nevada won, 45-10.
Earlier Saturday, the Wolf Pack nearly knocked off UNLV in the Mountain West outdoor track and field championship, which also would have clinched the title.
