Women’s sports grabbed the spotlight Wednesday afternoon in the Nevada athletics department, and the plan is for that to be much more than a one-day deal.
Wolf Pack coaches, players (current and former), boosters, athletics administrators and members of the public who made the trip to Legacy Hall gathered for a luncheon Wednesday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of federal Title IX legislation. It was the first event in what is planned as a yearlong celebration of women’s sports at Nevada.
Title IX — formally, the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act — was part of the Education Amendments of 1972.
