Nevada’s D.J. Fenner texted his coach, Eric Musselman, a couple of nights ago with a simple message.
“I want a ring,” the text read.
With only four games left in the regular season, that ring is just a couple of wins away. Nevada hosts Boise State at 7 p.m. Wednesday in a battle for first place in the Mountain West. Those two teams, plus Colorado State, are tied atop the conference standings with only two weeks left in the regular season.
While reaching the NCAA Tournament is the Wolf Pack’s paramount goal this season – that will likely require winning the conference tournament – taking home a regular-season crown, and getting the ring that would accompany it, would be meaningful to the Nevada players and coaches.
