Former Nevada head football coach Jay Norvell did not explicitly mention money when he was introduced as Colorado State’s new coach at a Tuesday press conference.
He didn’t have to.
Norvell made his message clear with other terms. He used the word “support” five times at his introductory press event. He mentioned the “facilities” of his new school.
In essence, Norvell was answering a big question that surfaced with his surprising — and unprecedented — departure: Why would a coach leave a successful program for a far-less successful team in the same conference?
It came down to money.
