Like every other coach on campus, new Nevada football coach Jay Norvell will be asked to do more with less.
Norvell’s contract was finalized Thursday and his guaranteed salary of $450,000 for 2017 – $250,000 in base salary and $200,000 in media and public appearances – ranks 11th out of 12 head football coaches in the Mountain West ahead of only Hawaii’s Nick Rolovich, who will make $400,008 in guarantees next season.
“The reality is we’re at the bottom of the conference financially,” said Nevada AD Doug Knuth, who has made a number of successful hires at a bargain price.
