UNLV coach Chris Beard will become of the highest-paid coaches in the state's history if his contract is approved by the Nevada Board of Regents.
The former Arkansas-Little Rock coach, who was selected March 28 as UNLV's head coach, will make $5.75 million over five years if he completes his first contract with the Rebels, who fired coach Dave Rice in the middle of the 2015-16 season.
The contract must first be approved by the Board of Regents, who have typically looked at coaching contracts at Nevada and UNLV with a discriminating eye. The Regents meet Friday to discuss the contract.
