LAS VEGAS – UNLV won its unofficial bowl game Saturday night. Nevada will still play in a real bowl game, although the Wolf Pack will surely wish it could take back a few plays against the Rebels.
Down 23-0 at one point, UNLV rallied for the biggest comeback in school history to stun Nevada, 34-29, in front of a spirited crowd of 19,921 at Sam Boyd Stadium. The Rebels, with no true postseason game in their future, played like Nevada was their bowl opponent – and, as a result, the Fremont Cannon will be getting a coat of red paint next week.
