Underdog Nevada club baseball team revels in national title

The Nevada Baseball Club woke up at 5:30 a.m. last Thursday and was on the road third minutes later.

The team left Paducah, Ky., and headed for Edwardsville, Ill., a nearly three-hour drive to the northwest where it would play Oregon in a semifinal of the National Club Baseball Association World Series.

Nevada won that game, 4-0, defeating the defending NCBA champions thanks to Cameron Cole’s shutout, and loaded back into cars an hour later for Paducah, where they’d play for the national title.

After another three-hour drive and a quick stop at the hotel to shower and eat, the team set out for Brooks Stadium to play East Carolina, one of the nation’s top baseball clubs.
