Track: Wolf Pack’s Nicole Wadden wins MW pentathlon

Nevada’s Nicole Wadden got the Wolf Pack off to a strong start Thursday at the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, winning the pentathlon with a personal-best score.

Wadden’s highlights for the event were: 60-meter dash (8.84 seconds); high jump (5 feet, 10.75 inches); shot put (36-10.5); and 800 meters (2:19.11). Her final score of 4,060 points is a school record and also the fifth-highest mark in Mountain West history.

Sophomore Alexandra Tierney also competed in the pentathlon, her first outing in the event since the eighth grade. She finished 10th at 3,454 points.
