Wolf Pack football coach Brian Polian prefers to open the season at home against an FCS team.
But if Polian had his choice of FCS opponent, Cal Poly wouldn’t rank near the top of the list.
“As I study them I film, I wonder why we agreed to the game, quite frankly,” said Polian, who enters his fourth season at Nevada’s head coach. “When administrators make deals and say, ‘Let’s get an FCS opponent from the West Coast,’ which I’m all for, it’s preferably not the one that runs the triple option.”
That’s the big wrinkle in Nevada’s season opener against Cal Poly, which is coming off a 4-7 season.
