As the Wolf Pack’s athletic teams wage battles on the football field, basketball court, baseball diamond, volleyball gym, swimming pool and soccer pitch, an equally important fight is taking place off the field.
That fight is all about money.
When the Wolf Pack moved from the Western Athletic Conference to the Mountain West in 2012, it jumped into a league whose teams had far more financial might, much better athletic facilities and generally stronger fan bases. While Nevada has made moderate improvements with its finances and facilities since that move, it still lags far behind its conference rivals, both financially and on the field.
