When Jordon Simmons became the Wolf Pack football team’s strength and conditioning coach in December, he set up a rule his players had to follow during the eight-week winter conditioning period that was about to ensue.
“You’re not allowed to lean on anything,” Simmons told his players. “If you’re going to lean, you lean on each other. That’s one thing we do with our workouts. If you guys are going to lean on something, you lean on a teammate. That’s something we’ve tried to bring into every aspect of their lives.”
And there was plenty of leaning after Simmons’ workouts, especially the military-style ones.
