Senior Megan Sweet went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and freshman Brooke Bolinger struck out seven in a complete game as the Nevada softball team took the opener of a three-game set against New Mexico, 5-1, on Friday at Hixson Park.
Sweet’s ninth home run of the season was also the 33rd of her career, one shy of tying Brittney Puzey’s all-time program record. Batting second for the first time this season, sophomore Aaliyah Gibson went 1-for-2 with two runs scored for the Pack (24-7, 5-2 MW).
Bolinger improved to 12-3 on the season with the win.
