A goal in the 102nd minute of play Friday allowed UC Irvine to sneak past the Nevada soccer team, 1-0, in a neutral site contest at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif.
In that 102nd minute, a through ball up the middle allowed UC Irvine’s Corey Tobin to go one-on-one with the Wolf Pack’s starting goalkeeper Kelsey Quintos. Tobin fired her shot past the diving Quintos for the game-winning tally.
Up to that point, both the Pack and Anteaters (2-2-1) played equal.
Three total shots were tallied in the first period. The Wolf Pack did create a few corner kick opportunities, getting one shortly after the start of the half and another as time ticked away in the period.
