HONOLULU – The Gonzaga soccer team beat Nevada, 1-0, in Friday’s season opener.
The Bulldogs goal was scored in the first half followed by a second half full of fouls, corner kicks and offsides.
Gonzaga out-shot Nevada, 13-4. The Bulldogs Sarah Carter scored from 25 yards out after a corner kick by Savanah Van Citters at 25:38.
The contest saw a combined total of 29 fouls and three yellow cards, one on the Pack and two on Gonzaga.
“It was a very physical game,” co-head coach Casey Tate said in a release. “We created a lot of set pieces and corners, but just couldn’t get on the end of them.
