On a night that alternated the sublime with the sloppy, UNLV’s Bryce Hamilton turned out to be the difference.
Hamilton, the Rebels’ workhorse all season, scored 27 of UNLV’s 62 points as the Rebels swept the Silver State Series with a 62-54 win over Nevada on Tuesday at Lawlor Events Center.
Nevada, playing without guard Desmond Cambridge Jr., mostly matched UNLV shot for shot through the first two-thirds of the game. A major Wolf Pack scoring drought, though, spelled the end of Nevada’s chances.
Grant Sherfield scored 19, on 8-for-22 shooting, to lead the Pack. Nevada shot 38.
