Report: Wolf Pack to hire Jay Norvell as football coach

Jay Norvell will be the Nevada Wolf Pack's next football coach.

Arizona State's wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator was offered the job Wednesday and accepted, according to FootballScoop.com. The deal was confirmed by ESPN.

Norvell, 53, has NFL experience, has run offenses at Nebraska, UCLA and Oklahoma and has the strongest ties of Nevada's finalists to the Wolf Pack's main recruiting areas of California and Texas. Nevada selected Norvell over Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin and Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig, who also interviewed this week.

Norvell was the last of the three finalists to interview for the position, doing so Wednesday.
