Wolf Pack athletic director Doug Knuth has been a busy man over the last 12 months.
In addition to his team completing an $11.5 million renovation of Mackay Stadium, obtaining the funding for the development of a $2.5 million basketball practice facility and topping off projects for trac and field and tennis, Knuth has hired five new head coaches, parted ways with the school’s football coach and handed out the biggest salary in school history to men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman.
Knuth fired football coach Brian Polian in December before hiring Jay Norvell. He also hired Amanda Levens (women’s basketball), Brendon Bray (women’s swimming), Josh Taylor (softball) and Erin Otagaki (women’s soccer) while retaining Musselman after the second-year coach led Nevada to a pair of Mountain West titles and NCAA Tournament before interviewing twice with the Pac-12’s Cal.
