When Wolf Pack coach Brian Polian approached Lucas Weber and proposed to him the idea of moving from running back to linebacker, Weber first reaction was this: “Umm, I don’t know.”
But when Weber told his parents, Franz and Janett, he was changing positions, they had a different reaction.
“They were happy,” Weber said. “They always told me, ‘You don’t look like a running back. You look like a linebacker.’ But they were just excited that there’s maybe a chance I’ll get on the field this year.”
Weber, who is entering his third season at Nevada following a standout career at McQueen High, walked onto to the Wolf Pack prior to the 2014 season.
