D.J. Fenner is going back home for Nevada’s first game of the CBI championship series.
Well, sort of.
Fenner was born in Kentucky in the small town of Fort Mitchell, which is a two-hour drive from Morehead, where Nevada will play the Morehead State Eagles in game one of the best-of-three series.
Fenner’s father, Derrick, was playing for the Cincinnati Bengals when D.J. was born and the family lived across the Ohio-Kentucky border in Fort Mitchell. The younger Fenner spent only two years in Kentucky before moving to California after his dad, a bruising running back, signed with the Oakland Raiders.
