The Wolf Pack football team’s assistant coaching salary pool is roughly the same as last season but has been deployed in a different way by new Nevada head coach Jay Norvell, who introduced his staff Tuesday.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel, who is perhaps the most qualified assistant coach in program history, will make $225,000 annually, the most for an assistant in Wolf Pack football history. Casteel is a four-time Broyles Award nominee, an award that goes to the nation’s top assistant coach. He built some of the best defenses in college football during his stint at West Virginia before being hired by Arizona.
