A huge fourth inning carried the Nevada baseball team to a victory in its home opener on a historic day.
The Wolf Pack pushed across 11 runs in the decisive fourth inning to score a 14-2 victory over Santa Clara for its 500th victory at Peccole Park, which is in its 28th season as the home of Nevada baseball. It was the first win at Peccole Park, where Nevada is 500-240, for first-year coach T.J. Bruce.
Santa Clara scored the game’s first two runs before Nevada took over from there.
Catcher Justin Hazard hit a solo home run in the third inning before the onslaught began one frame later.
