Exactly one week before Christmas Day, word leaked that new Nevada football coach Jay Norvell was going to hire Matt Mumme, the son of Air Raid inventor, Hal Mumme, as his offensive coordinator.
Shortly thereafter, Nevada’s Wyatt Demps fired off a text to his teammate and fellow wide receiver, Andrew Celis.
“Wyatt texted me, ‘Bruh, we’re running the Air Raid offense!’ and threw a couple of hashtags after that like #PackAttack,” Celis recalled. “I was thinking, ‘Air Raid offense?’ I hadn’t heard of it before but I assumed we would pass the ball a lot.”
Assumption correct as the Wolf Pack wideouts received an early Christmas gift when Mumme was hired.
