James Butler is 11 yards shy of doing something only six Wolf Pack running backs have accomplished.
The junior running back has 989 yards on the ground this season and if he hits 1,000 on Saturday against San Diego State, he’ll become the seventh Nevada back with two 1,000-yard seasons in his career.
“Hitting it last year as an underclassmen was good and hitting it again, I just have to give it up to the 'U,'” Butler said the Wolf Pack “Union,” the nickname for Nevada’s offensive line.
Truth be told, Butler has earned a lot of those 989 yards after contact.
