Marqueze Coleman, the Wolf Pack’s senior point guard, captain and closer late in games, was on the ground writhing in pain before four of his teammates carried him off the court.
After heading to the locker room to get his severely sprained left ankle examined, Coleman would return to the bench, but on crutches. If Nevada was going to win this one, it would do so without Coleman.
That’s when a fellow senior, Tyron Criswell, took over, while junior D.J. Fenner hit some huge buckets down the stretch and freshmen Cameron Oliver and Lindsey Drew delivered some big defensive plays late in Nevada’s 73-68 victory over Utah State before 6,527 fans at Lawlor Events Center on Wednesday.
