Kirk Elias has been the Wolf Pack's cross country coach and guided the school's track and field distance runners since 2005, but he’s never seen Nevada host an outdoor track meet during his decade at the school.
That could change next year.
This summer, the track that surrounds Chris Ault Field at Mackay Stadium is scheduled to undergo a $400,000 resurfacing. While the funding and project hasn’t been finalized yet, it is expected to be completed in time for next season and be paid for by university funds and not athletic department funds.
“It’s very, very good news,” Elias said.
