Marcos Baghdatis has quietly put together one of the most impressive streaks in tennis history.
That streak ended Friday at the hands of a former Wolf Pack tennis player.
Moez Echargui, who competed for Nevada from 2011-15, beat Baghdatis in a Davis Cup match Friday. It ended Baghdatis' record run of 36 straight Davis Cup singles victories, a streak that stretched back 14 years. His last Davis Cup singles match loss came to Georgia's Irakli Labadze in 2003.
Echargui, playing for Tunisia, bested Baghdatis, from Cyprus, 7-5, 7-6 (2), 4-6, 4-6, 6-1 in a Europe/Africa zone playoff match in Nicosia.
