Scott Boone and Rich Rodriguez first met in the early 1990s.
Boone was an assistant coach at Wabash College, a Division III school in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Rodriguez was the head coach at Glenville State, a Division II school in Glenville, W.V.
This wasn’t exactly Auburn and Alabama, but the two young coaches become quick friends while building the foundation of their coaching careers. Moe than 25 years later, the two men meet again, this time with Rodriguez serving as Arizona’s head coach and Boone as Nevada’s defensive coordinator.
“We had a bunch of mutual friends and we were introduced and we’ve been friends for a long time,” Rodriguez said.
