Notes: Pack out to stop the 'praying mantis'

When Colin Kaepernick played for Nevada, opposing coaches sometimes referred to him as a gazelle.

When Nevada hosts Buffalo on Saturday, it will face a quarterback compared to a slightly different animal.

“I know he looks like a praying mantis as he runs around,” Nevada coach Brian Polian said of Buffalo’s 6-foot-7, 245-pound freshman Tyree Jackson. “He’s really long and he was kind of like a chicken with his head cut off. He didn’t always know what was going on, but he was really exciting and he was running the ball and making people miss and all of a sudden you saw their offense come to life.
