Wolf Pack guard Lindsey Drew will play in his first NCAA Tournament game Thursday when Nevada takes on Iowa State, but he won’t be the first person in his family to play in the Big Dance. He’ll actually be the third.
Drew’s dad, Larry, played in the tournament in 1978, when it included just 32 teams, and again in 1980, when the field was 48. Drew’s Missouri Tigers lost to Utah, 86-76, in the first round in 1978 before winning two games (over San Jose State and Notre Dame) and advancing to the Sweet 16 in 1980.
The elder Drew put up some strong performances in his four NCAA Tournament games, averaging 13.
