When the opportunity to host a first-round game in the College Basketball Invitational was presented to Nevada over the weekend the program jumped at the opportunity even though it was a financial risk.
“Whenever you do something like this there’s a calculated risk, but given the energy and enthusiasm from the community we felt like it was a safe risk,” said Wolf Pack deputy athletic director Rory Hickok, who oversees the basketball program and played a key role in the postseason decision-making process.
