LAS VEGAS — Round one went to Nevada. In a big way.
The No. 7/8 Wolf Pack went into Thomas & Mack Arena on Tuesday night and not only survived, but pummeled rival UNLV, 87-70, in a nationally televised Mountain West game.
The emphatic win was Nevada’s 20th of the season and lifted the Wolf Pack to 20-1 overall and 7-1 in Mountain West games. UNLV dropped to 11-9, 5-3.
Caleb Martin had 26 points to lead Nevada, which shot 48 percent. The Pack defense also limited UNLV to 36 percent shooting.
