The Nevada baseball team couldn’t claw its way back from an early six-run deficit, suffering an 8-3 loss to New Mexico on Friday at Peccole Park.
The Lobos (7-5, 1-0) used a five-run third inning to open a 6-0 lead. Nevada (4-9, 0-3) climbed back with one run each in the third, fourth and fifth innings before New Mexico halted the Pack’s comeback attempt as UNM’s Carson Schneider pitched a complete game.
Nevada was led by a pair of hits and runs from sophomore Cole Krzmarzick, but Schneider stymied the Wolf Pack’s bats with only six hits and three runs.
