Nevada sophomore point guard Grant Sherfield was named Mountain West Player of the Week for men's basketball Tuesday for his outstanding performance over the Pack's 4-0 stretch from Jan. 31 to Feb. 7.
It is Sherfield's first Mountain West weekly honor, and the second for the Pack this season. Guard Desmond Cambridge, Jr. was recognized back on Dec. 21.
Over sweeps of in-state rival UNLV and then-first-place Boise State, Sherfield burnished his Mountain West Player of the Year credentials, averaging 20.5 points, 9.25 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, along with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 5.29 (37 assists to just seven turnovers).
