Before his team played its season opener, Nevada football coach Jay Norvell offered a history lesson.
He told his players, most of them ranging from ages 18-22, about an old baseball player from the 1940s and 1950. A guy by the name of Ted Williams. Most of those Wolf Pack players didn’t know who the Splendid Splinter was, so Norvell told them about the Boston Red Sox legend.
