New Nevada football coach Ken Wilson has made his first hire — and it’s a familiar name.
Wilson named Vai Taua as the Wolf Pack’s assistant head coach on Tuesday, a move that keeps Taua in Nevada’s program after most of Nevada’s offensive staff joined former head coach Jay Norvell at Colorado State.
Taua will also serve as Nevada’s interim head coach for the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 27, a move announced prior to Wilson’s hiring on Friday. Taua has served on Nevada’s coaching staff for the past five seasons, primarily as running backs coach.
