After joining the Nevada women's cross country/track and field teams this summer, Tierney Wolfgram continues to impress after breaking the Women’s American Junior marathon record on Saturday.
Wolfgram, 17, broke the Women’s American Junior record with her time of 2 hours, 31 minutes, 49 seconds in her third marathon. Her time shattered the old record of 2:34:32, which had stood since 1984.
The freshman’s time also was about 11 minutes behind the under-20 world marathon record set by Shure Demise with her time of 2:20:59.
Nevada assistant cross country coach EmKay Sullivan (Meyers), said she was proud of the freshman.
