Last December, Nevada football coach Jay Norvell walked into the Oklahoma City home of one of his prized recruits – running back Devonte Lee – when the family’s Christmas tree caught his eye.
There were no Christmas presents under the tree. Instead, it was stocked with something far different.
“He’s got like 14 gold footballs under his tree,” Norvell said. “Not one present. Fourteen presents of gold footballs that he’s won in his lifetime sitting under his tree. I’m just smiling because this kid loves football. He absolutely loves to play football. As a coach, that’s exactly what we want to have.
