A day after Nevada unexpectedly lost cornerback coach Courtney Viney, the Wolf Pack promoted Mike Chamoures to a full-time position.
Chamoures, who served as Nevada's defensive quality control coach last season, will be Nevada's safeties coach in 2018, the school announced Wednesday. David Lockwood, who was hired in February to coach safeties, will shift to coaching cornerbacks and will oversee the secondary.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Chamoures as a full-time member of our coaching staff for the 2018 season," Nevada head coach Jay Norvell said in a news release. "Mike is an intelligent young coach who has earned the respect of many of our players with his experience and understanding of our defensive system.
