The Nevada baseball team got its season off to a hot start Friday, crushing No. 24 Missouri State, 16-4, to open the Texas State tournament in San Marcos, Texas.
The 16 runs were the most in a season-opener for the Wolf Pack since at least 1974, the first season Nevada kept statistical records.
The Pack hit four home runs in the rout.
Nevada scored in every inning except the fourth. Two of the biggest plays for the Wolf Pack came from Jaylon McLaughlin and Keaton Smith, who both hit three-run home runs to put the game out of reach.
