NCAA track: Pack’s Myers just misses spot in steeplechase final

Nevada senior Emily Myers solidified her position as the best distance runner in school history Thursday night at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Eugene. Ore., with a second-team All-American performance after placing 13th in the steeplechase.

Myers’ time of 10 minutes, 0.32 seconds shattered her own school record set less than two weeks ago. The time was also a fraction of a second — 0.3-second exactly — behind the final qualifying spot for Saturday’s finals.

“This isn’t exactly what I wanted, but I’m still an All-American and that’s what I came to do,” Myers said.
