The 23rd season of Mountain West football kicks off Saturday, with three MW teams involved in the six “Week 0” games on the schedule.
San Jose State is the defending conference champion, completing a stunning worst-to-first turnaround by beating Boise State in the MW championship game, 34-20. There are also two new coaches in the conference, with Blake Anderson taking over at Utah State and Andy Avalos making his debut at Boise State, where he starred as a player.
Following is a first look at the six-team Mountain Division, which has been won for three straight seasons by Boise State (the conference did not use divisions in the shortened 2020 season).
