MW championships bring pain, but no big surprises

Wolf Pack cross country coach Kirk Elias promised pain at the Mountain West championships at Montreux Golf and Country Club on Friday morning, and pain is exactly what was delivered.

That pain, borne out of Elias’ extremely hilly track, was evident when some runners collapsed after hitting the finish line. It also was evident in the times of the runners. But one thing the course didn’t provide was any big surprises as Boise State freshman, Allie Ostrander, the No. 1 runner in the nation, easily won the women’s 6K and New Mexico, the No. 1 team in the nation, easily won the team title.
