Team on the rise
* Auburn: I was cautious with my initial placement of Auburn, more because of the Tigers’ schedule than anything else, but the team picked up the week’s biggest win, topping No. 6 Washington in a neutral-field season opener. That launched Auburn from No. 16 on my preseason ballot to No. 4 this week. I base my ballot on results rather than some gut feel, and the Tigers picked up a great early-season win.
