The second spot in the RGJ’s Mountain West basketball power rankings has been settled – for now, anyway – by what amounts to a made free throw.
Utah State remains in second place, as it has done for much of the season, thanks to a one-point win at Fresno State on Tuesday. The Aggies and the Bulldogs have opened up a clear separation on the rest of the conference, if not from each other.
Both are chasing Nevada, though. The No. 6 Wolf Pack has been operating at a very high level since its lone loss of the season – one they’ll get a chance to avenge on Saturday.
